The shop is filled with various hydraulic hoses, with diameters ranging from 3/8” to 3”, and also stocks a large quantity of metal pipes of different sizes and related accessories for use with different machinery. The shop’s main customers are mostly construction clients, with vehicle repair workshops also being a major customer group.

According to the owner, Mr. Kwan, the two Finnish-imported crimping machines in the shop have been his loyal “partners” for over 40 years. His son has also been working alongside him in this repair business for more than a decade. The shop opens from Monday to Saturday, operating from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Their service primarily focuses on emergency repairs, with damaged hydraulic hoses being the most common issue. In the harsh operating environments of construction sites, hoses are frequently exposed to external factors that lead to bursts. Of course, high pressure—whether due to product lifespan or other technical failures—can also cause a hose to rupture, ultimately bringing machinery to a halt and causing costly downtime.

In these emergencies, clients rush their damaged hose assemblies to the shop. Mr. Kwan then meticulously replicates the part based on the original’s exact specifications and application. This allows the new hose to be sent back to the site as quickly as possible, ensuring that the stalled machinery is back in operation with minimal downtime.

To prepare for such emergencies, repair workshops typically keep a stock of hose-related components. However, when a hydraulic hose bursts without warning, it often leads to a significant leakage of hydraulic fluid. Most construction sites or workshops do not store extra hydraulic oil beyond their regular top-up levels.
Recognizing this need, Chun Kee Hydraulics also stocks Sinopec ISO VG 46 and 68 hydraulic oils, ensuring customers can immediately purchase the necessary refills to get their machinery back in motion during a breakdown.

In recent years, global climate change has brought increasingly severe challenges to Hong Kong’s sub-tropical climate, particularly during the rainy season. Heavy rainstorms often lead to water contamination in the fuel tanks and lubrication systems of construction machinery. To combat this, Mr. Kwan recommends Sinopec Hydraulic Oil, which is proudly manufactured in Singapore.
This premium product is certified by leading international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). It is highly regarded for its exceptional cost-effectiveness and its high Viscosity Index (VI), which ensures superior stability and oil film protection across wide temperature ranges. Furthermore, its excellent water separation (demulsibility) properties help enhance machine responsiveness and reduce power consumption, ensuring peak performance even in the toughest conditions.

Due to the extensive stock of repair parts and fittings throughout the shop, space is carefully managed. Typically, a stack of over ten 18-liter pails of Sinopec ISO VG 68 Hydraulic Oil is kept right at the storefront for easy access, while additional stock is stored at the back of the premises to ensure they are always prepared for unexpected demand.

On a street full of repair workshops near Ngau Tau Kok in East Kowloon, next to the entrance of a commercial building, there is a father and son who have been running a hydraulic hose repair workshop – Chun Kee Hydraulics – for over 40 years.
